YUCCA VALLEY MAN ACCUSED OF ATTEMPTED RAPE

A Yucca Valley man was arrested Saturday, accused of attempting to rape his girlfriend. According to a Sheriff’s report, Lawrence Carruthers, 50, had been drinking and started arguing with his girlfriend in the 6100 block of Avalon Avenue about 3:30 p.m. The report states Lawrence grabbed the woman by the neck held her down, but his girlfriend was able to wiggle free and call for help. After an investigation, Lawrence Carruthers was arrested for investigation of attempted rape, violating a restraining order, and battery. Carruthers was booked into the Morongo Basin Jail with his total bail set at $150,000.
