WE REVIEW “LEGALLY BLONDE” PLAYING AT YUCCA VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL

Yucca Valley High School opens “Legally Blonde, the Musical” tonight in the high school’s lecture hall. The award-winning musical is based on the beloved movie “Legally Blonde.” Reporter Rebecca Havely attended a dress rehearsal and offers this review…
Elle Woods is dumped by boyfriend Warner, played by Aaron Ahmadi who leaves her for serious Harvard Law student Viviene played by the well-cast Kylie Howell. Elle’s sorority sisters help her get her into Harvard, led by a Greek chorus of singer/dancer divas, played well by Mariah Muchtar, Mayetta Martel, and Maddy Nimmo. She meets new love interest Emmit, played by Justin Dingeman, and works with him on a trial for the slimy character Callahan, who shines in his big number, “Blood in the Water.” Brooke Wyndome, the client in the case, is played well by Destynie Candelaria. Elle befriends beauty shop owner Paulette, played by Madison Curtis, who shines in her songs and does an exceptional job with the choreography throughout. Nick Geogea is a crack-up as the UPS man Madison attracts, with the fabulous number “Bend and Snap.” Aimee Frank leads the entire piece with a stand-out voice and plays the iconic role of Elle Woods with humble confidence. Director Scott Phillips makes excellent use of the lecture hall performance space. Great musical direction by Teresa McClintock and an energetic ensemble makes “Legally Blonde, the Musical” a great evening of live theatre.
“Legally Blonde, the Musical” runs tonight, Tuesday, May 26, as well as May 28, 29, and 30, all at 6 p.m., with a matinee at 1 p.m. May 30. Tickets are available at the door and are $5 for adults, $4 for students and free for children under 12.
