TWO ARRESTS, FIVE TICKETS, FROM TWENTYNINE PALMS CHECKPOINT SATURDAY

Nearly 850 vehicles were screened during a DUI/driver’s license checkpoint held by the Sheriff’s Department Saturday night in Twentynine Palms. From 6 p.m. to 2 a.m., deputies screened 847 vehicles at Highway 62 and Estrella Avenue and arrested Wayne Tsosie, 26, of Twentynine Palms, for suspected DUI. Tela Campbell, 26, was arrested on a felony warrant for possession of dangerous drugs. Her passenger, Reanna Rumfelt, 19, was also arrested for a misdemeanor warrant for being under the influence of a controlled substance. In all, deputies arrested one person for DUI, one person for illegal drugs; four drivers were cited or arrested for operating an unlicensed vehicle or with a suspended or revoked license, and four citations were issued.
