TWENTYNINE PALMS MARINE AND WIFE ACCUSED OF NEGLECTING THEIR FIVE CHILDREN

A Marine and his wife were arrested Thursday afternoon, accused of neglecting their five children. According to Sheriff’s Sergeant Rick Millard, military police called deputies about 1:30 p.m. to investigate a case of child neglect in the 8100 block of Delta Street on board the Combat Center. Millard said deputies found the home in deplorable conditions, with an unkempt and unsafe environment. After an investigation, Sergeant Westley Hegge, 26, a machine gunner with Third Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, and Alexandria Hegge, 24, were arrested on suspicion of child endangerment. Westley Hegge and Alexandria Hegge were booked at the West Valley Detention Center with their bail set at $100,000 each. Three of their children were turned over to Child Protective Services, and two children were released to their biological father.
