Burglars were out in Twentynine Palms over the weekend. The Sheriff’s Department reports at least four residences, and one vehicle, were broken into Friday and Saturday. About 10:30 a.m., a resident in the 74300 block of Chemehuevi Drive in Twentynine Palms reported two of his vehicles had been burglarized overnight, with several items missing. After an investigation, Michael Carreon, 21, was arrested on suspicion of vehicle burglary. Michael Carreon was booked at the Morongo Basin Jail with his bail set at $25,000.
The first house burglary was reported about 4:30 p.m. Friday in the 73800 block of Sunnyslope Drive, in which the resident came home to find the front door wide open and the house ransacked. On Saturday, two burglaries were reported in the 6400 block of Palmview Avenue and one in 7300 block of Saladin Avenue. In all three locations, the front door had either been kicked in or pried open. In addition, the Sheriff’s Department received two reports of attempted break-ins Saturday in Twentynine Palms. About 2 a.m. Saturday, a resident in the 7200 block of Utah Trail reported her front door was damaged when an unknown subject kicked it about five to seven times. And in the 73600 block of Joshua Drive, sometime during the night, an unknown subject threw a rock through a window and a brick block through a sliding glass door. The Sheriff’s Department is investigating the break-ins.
