RASH OF BURGLARIES IN MORONGO VALLEY

At least three residents reported burglaries and attempted burglaries of vehicles in Morongo Valley over the weekend. According to Sheriff’s reports, a neighbor called the Sheriff’s Department about 8 a.m. Saturday to report that a man was trying to break into a Honda Civic in the 49500 block of Paradise Avenue. The suspect fled when deputies arrived, but the neighbor was able to take a photo of him. The next call came in at 8:30 a.m. in the 11200 block of Ryan Street; it appears the same suspect stole various items, including a wedding ring, from a Toyota 4-Runner. And about 9:30 a.m. Sunday, a resident of the 49800 block of Park Avenue said someone threw rocks at a 1991 Astro Van, breaking two windows. Nothing appeared to be missing from the van.

And in a similar call, a resident called the Sheriff’s Department just after 1 p.m. Saturday to report that she found a stripped and chopped up sedan on Maccele Road, east of San Jacinto in Morongo Valley. The report states the stolen vehicle had been chopped up into 4-foot by 4-foot sections to make it manageable for one person to move. The vehicle’s registered owner was contacted, and the stolen vehicle was removed from the system.
