STATE PLANS BAN ON SOME YUCCA VALLEY SEPTIC TANKS
The State is about to hand down very specific areas where the use of septic tanks will be strictly prohibited in Yucca Valley. Managing Editor Karl Gardner says a public hearing is set for March...
A hearing on a plan by the state to prohibit septic tank use in portions of Yucca Valley has been delayed so legal council can take a closer look at the documents. Sources say the public hearing set for January 20, to consider the adoption of an amendment to the Regional Water Quality Control Board’s Basin Plan, will now be held March 17, during the Regional Board’s regular meeting held in Council Chambers in the City of La Quinta. If approved, the amended plan would prohibit the use of septic tanks in some high-density areas of Yucca Valley. The implied change to the plan by the state has been one of the driving factors in Hi-Desert Water’s Sewage Treatment Project. Officials at the Water Quality Control Board said the documents will be available for public review 45 days prior to the March hearing.
