PALM SPRINGS MAN KILLED IN AMBOY ROAD ROLLOVER CRASH
A Palm Springs man was killed in a head-on vehicle crash on Amboy Road Wednesday evening. According to the County coroner’s office, David Faryewicz, 45, was driving south in a 2003 Honda Element around 6 p.m., when for an unknown reason he crossed into the northbound lane, running into another vehicle. County Fire t paramedics responded and pronounced Faryewicz dead at the scene. The collision is being investigated by the California Highway Patrol.

GROUND BREAKING FOR NEW JOSHUA TREE COUNTY BUILDING THIS MORNING
The official groundbreaking for the construction of a new Morongo Basin County office building is scheduled for this morning at 10:00 am. The new 30,428 square foot office building, between the existing county building and the CHP Station in Joshua Tree will consolidate multiple departments. The first floor (14,994 square feet) will provide space for the Board of Supervisors, Assessor, and Land Use Services Department and the Probation Department. The second floor (15,434 square feet) will allow for the expansion and relocation of the Sheriff’s Substation. The building has also been designed to allow for future expansion in the southwest corner of the building to accommodate long term growth. This morning groundbreaking is open to the public.

If you are out for the evening, turn on the lights and leave them on. Leave the TV or radio on so it looks like someone is home. Be extra cautious about locking doors and windows when you leave, even if you will only be gone for a few minutes. Don’t display holiday gifts where they can be seen from the outside.

TLC COLLECTION CENTER OPENS TODAY
This year's Tender Loving Christmas, of TLC, collection center opens today at 56310 Pima Trail, Unit B. Yucca Valley. Mara Cantelo, TLC founder, hopes to have sufficient volunteer staffing to operate the drop-off point from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. until T.L.C's annual Christmas Day feast at the community center. Volunteers will be collecting non-perishable food, toys and clothing. The new business center is located north of the county buildings and west of the theater. Customers may use the Car Quest/Express Lube entrance from Twentynine Palms Highway. To drop off donated items before the opening, please call (760) 365-4TLC (4852) to make arrangements.

29 PALMS GENERAL PLAN ADVISORS MEET TONIGHT
The city of 29 Palms General Plan Advisory Committee, the GPAC, is meeting tonight. Reporter Dan Stork says the public is urged to attend as the master plan for the future of the city is finalized...
The General Plan Advisory Committee (GPAC) for Twentynine Palms will hold its next public meeting on Monday, Nov. 29, from 6 to 9 p.m. at City Hall, 6136 Adobe Road. GPAC members have agreed to extend their meeting time until 9 p.m. in an effort to finish their review and discussion of the Land Use Element of the General Plan. The GPAC plans to tackle a review of the Plan’s Circulation Element at the same meeting. Review of the Conservation and Open Space elements is planned for the December 6 meeting. The public is encouraged to attend the meetings and provide citizen input and comments during this phase of the General Plan Update. HI-DESERT MEDICAL CENTER RECRUITING FOR LEADERSHIP ACADEMY

Twelve community leaders will be selected to participate in the second Hi-Desert Medical Center Leadership Academy. The lunchtime sessions hosted by CEO Lionel Chadwick will convene from January to June and include a briefing on timely and informative topics impacting community hospitals, a service-line presentation and tour. Lunch will be provided. To be considered, send a letter of interest that includes your background, and explanation of why you’re interested in participating, and a state your commitment to attend all six Wednesday sessions from noon to 1:30 on the hospital campus. Then send your letter to the attention of Joe Ruddon, marketing, Hi-Desert Medical Center, 6601 White Feather Road, Joshua Tree CA 92252. Letters must be postmarked by Friday, December 10th or hand delivered by December 10th to the administrative office located near the hospital lobby.

SEASON ENDS FOR TWENTYNINE PALMS HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL, YUCCA VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL MOVES ON IN CIF PLAY
The Twentynine Palms Varsity football team ended their season with a tough loss to #2 ranked Sierra Canyon 35-7 Friday at Granada Hills. “We fell behind early, and that put us in some tough situations on both sides of the ball”, said Head Coach Ernest Martinez. Senior QB Logan Miller threw for 117 yards in the second half and tossed a touchdown pass to Junior Daniel Geltko on a nice 75 yard drive to finish the game. Junior running back Chris FuiFui finished the game with 15 carries for 76 yards. Defensively, the Cats had a few bright spots as they forced 2 fumbles and had a goal line stand late in first half. Defensive standout Tuvalu Melei played a big role in the goal line stand and forced a fumble in the third quarter. Senior Captain Brian Walters led the team in tackles with 8 and played well throughout. Sophomore safety Nate McClain had 7 tackles and broke up several big pass plays. The Wildcats finish the 2010 season with an 8-4 record, and a share of their 4th consecutive De Anza league title. The Wildcats will celebrate their outstanding year with an end of the year banquet at the High School MPR on December 12th. Parents can purchase tickets for the dinner from touchdown club members. The YVHS Trojan Football tea, moved forward Friday night at home by defeating the Rubidoux Falcons 24-14. Offensive highlights: Michael Montano rushed 14 times for 65 and 3 TD's. Brent Murphy carried the ball 21 times for 73 yards and one 2pt conversion. Montano also completed 10 of 15 passes for 81 yards. Defensive highlights: Bert Alvarez had 10 tackles and recovered one fumble. Jeremy Rios had 8 tackles and forced one fumble. George Von Toman had 8 tackles and one blocked field goal that he returned 71 yards. Michael Montano had 7 tackles and recovered a fumble that he caused. The Semi-Final game will be held at Trojan Stadium this Saturday at 7:30 pm. If the Trojans win, they will travel to Paraclete (Lancaster) or to St. Margaret's (San Juan Capistrano) for the Championship game the following Saturday.

HIGH SCHOOL SPORTS
It’s soccer and basketball tomorrow in local high school sports. The Twentynine Palms High School Wildcat girls’ and boys’ soccer teams travel away versus Loma Linda Academy. The girl’s kick off at 3:15, the boy’s at 5. The Wildcat Girls basketball team travels away to Hemet competing in the West Valley Tournament, with game times to be announced.
