CORONER IDENTIFIES VICTIMS OF AMBOY AREA CAR FIRE
Two people killed in a fiery rollover crash near Amboy last month have been identified. The Coroner’s office said Terrance Sweigart, 58, and his wife Alice Sweigart, 64, both of Covina, died in the crash October 29. The California Highway Patrol officials said dispatchers received a wireless 9-1-1-call at 12:15 a.m. from a woman in a pick-up truck who said her husband was driving drunk and swerving all over the road. Another wireless 911 call was received at 1:00 a.m. reporting an overturned vehicle on fire. The California Highway Patrol and the San Bernardino County Fire Department from Wonder Valley responded to the scene. A bystander reported that there was a woman trapped in the vehicle. After the fire was extinguished, 2 bodies were found. Investigators said evidence suggests that the 2005 Toyota Tacoma was speeding northbound on Amboy Road, failed to negotiate a left curve in the road and flipped an unknown number of times, coming to rest on it's passenger side one tenth of a miles north of mile marker 43.

CONGRESSMAN LEWIS MOVES TO RETURN STIMULUS TO TREASURY
Longtime Congressman Jerry Lewis recently re-elected as this regions representative in Washington, introduced legislation Monday proposing to return any unobligated stimulus dollars to the U.S. Treasury to help cut the national deficit. The Congressional Budget Office estimates about $12 billion in stimulus funds remain unobligated and are sitting unused in federal accounts. Lewis' bill - which he calls the "American Recovery and Reinvestment Rescission Act" - would return the unused funds to the Treasury. Lewis is ranking Republican on the House Appropriations Committee, and is pressing hard for the chairmanship of the powerful committee when the new Congress is seated in January with a Republican majority. In a prepared statement, Lewis said returning the funds would be a start toward shrinking the nation's $1.3 trillion deficit. If were to pass, Lewis' bill would stop the President Barack Obama's administration from spending the remaining stimulus funds.
