MUSD CANCELS SCHOOL BUS FEES
The Morongo Unified School District has called a special meeting for Monday September 26th, for the purpose cancelling the school bus fee program. As reported here earlier, the fees collected last year covered only about 4% of the cost of busing. The agenda for the special meeting adds "There was a noticeable decline in students riding the bus. The additional expense to print, the accounting aspects and the hardship for some families outweigh the small percentage that offsets the cost of home-to-school transportation." The staff recommendation to the Board is to rescind the fee program for the current school year, and to refund money collected to date. The meeting is scheduled for 9:30 am, at Yucca Valley High School.

FIRE EXTINGUISHER USE
In order for a fire to burn, it must have fuel, heat, and oxygen. Removing any of these will result in the fire being extinguished. Fire extinguishers are very effective in removing the oxygen a fire needs to burn. There are four types of fire extinguishers: Type A, that's used on combustibles such as wood, cloth, and paper; Type B, that's used on flammable liquid fires, such as grease; Type C, for use on electrical fires; and Type ABC, that's used on all kinds of fires. Remember, your first response to a fire should be to call 9-1-1. Then, if it's safe, use your fire extinguisher to try to put out the fire.
