POWER OUTAGE IN PARTS OF YUCCA VALLEY YESTERDAY
A power outage in the Sky Harbor and Story Park areas of Yucca Valley yesterday evening caused discomfort to many residents in 90 degree temperatures. A County Fire spokesman said a transformer blew out at Amador and Joshua Drive in Yucca Valley shortly before 6 p.m., leaving many residents in that area without power. The downed lines caused a small vegetation fire, about 4 by 4 feet, but residents were able to put it out with a garden hose before firefighters arrived. Edison crews repaired the equipment and restored power in stages throughout the evening. For some residents, power was out long enough to start melting their ice cream. Edison crews were still working to restore power to about 2,000 residents in the Story Park area this morning. For them, SoCal Edison expects power to be back on about 10 a.m.
