DUI CHECK POINT TONIGHT
The Local CHP office announced the will conduct a sobriety/driver license checkpoint tonight somewhere in the Morongo Basin, most likely along State Route 62. The goal of the CHP is to ensure the safe passage of each and every motorist by targeting roads where there is a high frequency of intoxicated or unlicensed drivers. The sobriety/driver license checkpoint is a proven effective tool for achieving this goal and is designed to augment existing patrol operations. The sobriety checkpoint will be in operation from 8 p.m. until 2 a.m. Monday morning. Morongo Basin Area Commander, Lieutenant Tim Tompkins said, "All too often, members of our community are senselessly injured or killed on local roadways by intoxicated or unlicensed drivers".
