HOLIDAY SOBRIETY CHECK POINT IN TWENTYNINE PALMS
The Twentynine Palms Police Department along with the County Sheriff’s Department will conduct a sobriety and driver's license checkpoint Monday night from 6:00 to 2:00 in the area of Twentynine Palms Highway and Adobe Road. Sheriffs’ and California Highway Patrol officers have been on extra patrols in search of intoxicated drivers over the holiday weekend. Extra officers will be on the road to find drunken drivers using saturation patrols. Both the Town of Yucca Valley and City of Twentynine Palms have scheduled the special patrols.

MEMORIAL DAY CELEBRATIONS AT JOSHUA TREE MEMORIAL PARK
A special Memorial Day commemoration is being planned for the entire Morongo Basin tomorrow. Reporter Dan Stork invites you to join the event at Joshua Tree Memorial Park...
Joshua Tree Memorial Park will be the site of a Memorial Day extravaganza, on Monday May 31. A Memorial Day observance between 11 AM and noon features guest military speakers, advancing and retiring of the colors, a white dove release, and vintage military uniforms. Between noon and 5 PM, the public is invited to enjoy a free community barbecue and carnival, with food vendors and charity raffles. There’ll be live music from the Shadow Mountain Band, Rabbit and Rutherford (of Gram Rabbit), and Shawn Mafia. Also on hand will be John "Juke" Logan and local favorite Kristina Quigley. Admission is free, and all ages are welcome. Joshua Tree Memorial Park is located at 60121 Twentynine Palms Highway, in Joshua Tree.

CHARITY RAFFLE IN SUPPORT OF HUMANE SOCIETY
In a related story, Wiefels’ Pet Cremation Center is sponsoring a charity raffle at this year’s Memorial Day Observance at the Joshua Tree Memorial Park The raffle takes place Monday from 11:00 to 5:00. All proceeds from the raffle will be donated to the Morongo Basin Humane Societies No-Kill Shelter. Great prizes have been donated by Joshua Tree Memorial Park, Wiefels, and other local area businesses. Tickets are available for purchase the day of the event. BASIN WIDE FOUNDATION BREAKFAST MEETING
The Basin Wide Foundation will hold their next breakfast on Thursday morning June 3 in the Helen Gray Center on the Hi Desert Medical Center campus. The Breakfast starts at 7:00. Guest speaker John Harding, Department of Behavioral Health and member of the Community Crisis Response Team, will explain how the Community Crisis Response Team is expanding options to those at risk of acute psychiatric hospitalization.
