BATTERING RAM USED TO ARREST YUCCA VALLEY MAN SUNDAY
It finally took a battering ram to arrest a Yucca Valley man Sunday after his brother reported squatters were living in his brother's house. About 3:30 Sunday morning, a man called police to report that since his brother was in jail, it must be squatters who were living in his brother's house in the 58200 block of Campanula Street in Yucca Valley. A responding deputy determined that the home's resident, Christopher Morgan, 36, had locked himself in the garage and refused to come out because there were warrants for his arrest. The deputy made several attempts to convince Morgan to come out, but finally the interior door into the garage had to be broken down using a battering ram. Christopher Morgan was arrested on five warrants, including possession of a stolen vehicle, burglary, and planting and possession of marijuana for sale. He was booked at the Morongo Basin Jail with his bail set at $200,000.

COUNTY FIRE EXPANDS FIREFIGHTER APPRENTICE PROGRAM
San Bernardino County Fire has expanded its Limited-Term Firefighter or LT Apprentice Program. The LT Program was created as an opportunity for those wishing to become a career firefighter to gain on-the-job experience. Many participants of the program have gone on to become full-time professional firefighters.
