PLANNING COMMISSIONER SAYS HER NAME FALSIFIED ON STATE FILING
A Yucca Valley Planning Commissioner is saying that a local activist falsified a document filed with the State Attorney General’s office and the Fair Political Practices Commission. Documents filed by Rae Packard asking for the removal of Mayor Frank Luckino from office used the name of Commissioner Margo Sturges as a witness to the filing. After Z107-7 received the documents and made them public yesterday, Sturges is now denying her involvement. In an e-mail she says, quote - "Rae Packard is incorrect in using my name as a "witness," going on Sturges said, again quoting, " I do not know why my name was listed as a witness without my consent or knowledge." The filing is asking for Luckino’s removal based on a perceived conflict of interest between his job as the Hi-Desert Water District’s CFO and serving on the Town Council. The California Fair Political Practices Commission ruled Luckino’s job does not constitute a violation of the Political Reform Act. Z107-7 news has contacted Packard for a response to Sturges’ accusations she used her name without her consent. Sturges was appointed on to the Town’s Planning Commission by Councilwoman Lori Herbel.
