HIT AN RUN IN TWENTYNINE PALMS
A teen on a bike ran a stop sign hit another vehicle and left the scene in Twentynine Palms. Sheriffs’ officials said Thursday afternoon at 1, Dennis Buckley, 34 of Twentynine Palms was driving along Morongo Road when a 16 year old teen ran the stop sign at Manana Drive, slamming into Buckley’s 2007 Chevy HHR. After the crash, the boy left the location. Deputy Curtis Kolb was unable to locate the teen or the bike. Buckley’s HHR sustained moderate damage to the front left fender. No injuries were reported.

Blindness Support Services is a non-profit organization whose goal is to help seniors with vision problems maintain their independence. Anyone in San Bernardino or Riverside County 55 or older and experiencing vision loss due to total blindness, legal blindness, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, cataracts or other eye diseases is eligible for their free services and low vision products. Programs include home visits, program presentations, workshops on low vision products, classes on low vision preparedness, and orientation and mobility skills training. BIKERS AGAINST CHILD ABUSE
Bikers Against Child Abuse, or BACA, is an international non-profit organization of motorcycle riders that provides aid, comfort, safety, and support for children who have been sexually, physically, and emotionally abused. BACA works with law enforcement and the courts to give an extra layer of support for abused children by having members attend the children’s court proceedings, and if necessary, escorting them to and from school and on errands, and by just being a friend. Prospective members of BACA must pass background checks with no abusive or violent crimes against children. Funds raised by BACA are used to help abused children participate in activities such as self-defense classes, Little League, art and dance classes, and counseling, if necessary. FINANCIAL AID NIGHT AT TWENTYNINE PALMS HIGH SCHOOL
