TOWN CONSIDERS BUYING THE BOYS AND GIRLS CLUB BUILDING
Continuing a series of reports from a very busy Yucca Valley Town Council meeting this week, reporter Tami Roleff says the town is considering buying the Boys and Girls Club building...
At Tuesday’s meeting of the Yucca Valley Town Council, Council Members discussed in closed session the possibility of buying the building for the Boys and Girls Club of the High Desert. According to the Club’s Board President John Babrowski, if the Town buys the building, the Boys and Girls Club would lease it back from the Town at a rent yet to be determined.

The sale would benefit the Boys and Girls Club, he said, because the club would no longer have a mortgage hanging over its head. The Club’s First Vice President, Cynthia Kraemer said according to the Town’s Master Park Plan, the Boys and Girls Club will eventually be surrounded by a new park. If the Town owns the Boys and Girls Club building, it will give the Town access to a gymnasium, which it currently doesn’t have. Selling the building will give the Boys and Girls Club the opportunity to build another building later that is more suitable for its purposes, she added. The Boys and Girls Club Executive Board is open to negotiation, and, Kraemer stressed, talks are still preliminary.
