ROLLOVER CRASH IN WONDER VALLEY
A Joshua Tree woman escaped injury after rolling her truck on Amboy Road in Wonder Valley. California Highway Patrol officials said around 7 Thursday evening, Debbie Garcia, 47 was driving along Amboy Road near Bell King Lane, when she hit some soft sand, lost control and rolled the truck several times. Members of the Cops Racing team stopped and helped Garcia, along with firefighter paramedics from the Wonder Valley County Fire station. Garcia was not injured, in a phone call with Z107.7, Garcia thanks those who help, and had nothing but praise for the fire crew.

MARTIN LUTHER KING DAY CELEBRATION IN TWENTYNINE PALMS
In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Day tomorrow, the Twentynine Palms Bible Baptist Church will be holding their 10th annual Prayer Bowel and Unity March. The march begins at 8 a.m. in the parking lot at Little Church of the Desert, goes North on Adobe Road and will conclude at the Palms Baptist Church with program of songs, dance and speakers, including Twentynine Palms Mayor Steve Flock. A free lunch will be served up after the services; everyone is welcome to attend.

TAX AIDE PROGRAM INCLUDES TRANSPORTATION HELP
AARP’s Volunteer Tax Service program in Yucca Valley and Twentynine Palms includes help getting there. With more here is reporter Dan Stork…
Tax-Aide, the AARP-sponsored Volunteer service that provides free tax preparation for the elderly and low to middle-income taxpayers, will be booking appointments for the tax season. Tax-Aide has two sites in the Morongo Basin. In Yucca Valley, St. Mary of the Valley Church, at 7495 Church Street, will be open from February 2 through April 15th, on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. In Twentynine Palms, a site at the Twentynine Palms Library will be open from 10:00AM until 4:00PM every Friday from February 6th through April 9th. For appointments please call 760-365-3355 between 9:30 and 11:30AM, Monday through Wednesday, starting January 18th. If you are not able to drive to the tax site, Reach Out Morongo Basin may be able to arrange round-trip transportation. To make arrangements and to coordinate this with your tax appointment, call Reach Out Morongo Basin at 760-361-1410. Church Street is a regular MBTA bus route, and the bus may stop at the site if you ask.

SPECIAL SAVINGS AT THE MORONGO BASIN HUMANE SOCIETY THRIFT SHOP
In this tough economy, the Morongo Basin Humane Society thrift shop has ways for you to save on clothing and household items that will in turn help support their no-kill animal shelter in Joshua Tree. Each week the store has $2 bag specials as well as half price senior day on Tuesday and Wheel of Fortune "spin your savings amount" on the final Saturday of the month. The store is located at 7230 Pioneertown Road, just up from Highway 62. Store hours are 10-4 weekdays and 10-2 on Saturdays and is closed on Sundays. TRY YOUR HAND AT WII BOWLING IN YUCCA VALLEY
The town of Yucca Valley is offering Wii bowling in the Mesquite Room of Yucca Valley Community Center Wednesdays afternoons from 12:30 to 3:30, and on Thursdays mornings 10:00 to11:30, and again in the afternoons from 12:30 to 3:30 in the Yucca Valley Senior Center. Stop on by, set ‘em up and knock ‘em down, you just might be the next Earl Anthony of Wii bowling. OFF THE BEATEN PATH IN TWENTYNINE PALMS

The City of Twentynine Palms has lots of hidden treasures, some of which are off the beaten path. The Twentynine Palms Chamber of Commerce has partnered with the City to showcase some of these attractions. "Explore Twentynine Palms" is a uniquely localized visitor’s experience, which will highlight the rich mining and ranching history and the arts of Twentynine Palms. Participants will meet at the Chamber of Commerce office in Twentynine Palms, then visit the Old Schoolhouse Museum, the Twentynine Palms Art Gallery, have lunch at the Twentynine Palms Inn, and then tour the City’s murals. The tour begins at 11 a.m. sharp on Saturdays. Reservations must be made in advance. The cost of Explore Twentynine Palms is $17.50 which includes the transportation, guides, admission to the museum and gallery, lunch, tax, and tip.
