SPECIAL TWENTYNINE PALMS WATER DISTRICT MEETING MONDAY
An agreement to with the City of Twentynine Palms to purchase a new ladder truck, and a look at a Development Impact Fee study to help fund the increased cost of fire protection, are up for action at a special Twentynine Palms Water District Meeting for Fire Department business. The meeting is being held tomorrow afternoon at 5, at district offices on Hatch Road starting at 5. There will be an opportunity for public comment.

JOINT ANIMAL CONTROL MEETING WEDNESDAY
A joint Town of Yucca Valley, San Bernardino County Joint Powers Agreement meeting dealing with animal services, is being held Wednesday morning in the Mesquite Room of the Yucca Valley Community Center starting at 10:30. Items of interest on the docket, adopting a conflict of interest code and accepting an insurance quote. Other items for discussion include the draft operating budget, estimate of legal costs, acceptance of Town property as part of the Town’s payment, and an update on Town’s request for financing.

BROADCASTING OCCUPATIONS CLASSES START NEXT WEEK

If you’ve ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes at radio stations, then you may be interested in the Regional Occupation Program for Broadcasting Occupations. The ROP class will cover basic broadcasting operations, news gathering, advertising, how to be a disk jockey, and more. The next Broadcasting Occupations ROP class will start Tuesday, January 19. The 18-week class will be held Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:30 to 5 at the Z107.7 office on Hallee Road in Joshua Tree. For more information, call the radio station at 760-366-8471.

TWENTYNINE PALMS CITY COUNCIL TO HEAR BLOCK GRANTS PROPOSALS
The Twentynine Palms City Council will be in a special workshop session Tuesday to hear presentation for 2010 Community Development Block Grants, in council chambers at City Hall on Adobe road starting at 4:30. After the presentation, Council will go into a special closed session at 5:30 to conference with legal council on a case of potential litigation.

LEARN HOW TO BELLYDANCE
The Town of Yucca Valley will offer a Beginning Bellydance class Wednesdays from 6:00-7:00 p.m. starting January 13th at the Yucca Valley Community Center. This class will teach you the basic movements and technique of Middle Eastern dance. Participants will also celebrate the joy, femininity and individual expression inherent in this dance form. Bellydance is low impact and good for all ages and body types. Bellydance is for fun and fitness! Wear comfortable clothes. The cost is $35 for six weeks. Ages 10 and over are welcome.
