MISSING REDLANDS MAN FOUND IN LANDERS

A Redlands man who was reported missing Tuesday was found Wednesday afternoon in Landers. According to Sheriff’s Sergeant Steve Wilson, Eugene Loeffler, 82, told his family Tuesday that he was driving to the Home Depot in Redlands, but when he didn’t return, they filed a missing persons report. About 3:15 p.m. Wednesday afternoon, a Landers resident called the Sheriff’s department to report that an elderly man had gotten his truck stuck in the soft sand on Deer Trail, near the intersection of Linn Road and Deer Trail, and had been there most of the day. When a deputy checked on the stuck motorist, he found it was Loeffler. Eugene Loeffler was taken to Hi-Desert Medical Center for treatment and reunited with his family.
