MAN ARRESTED AT GUNPOINT IN STOLEN BIG RIG CAB

Sheriff Deputies arrested a man who was driving a stolen semi-trailer truck cab at gunpoint Thursday afternoon. Shortly before 3:30 p.m., the Sheriff’s Department was notified that a stolen big rig was being driven southbound on Old Woman Springs Road. Deputies tracked the stolen truck as it turned eastbound on Highway 62 and stopped it at the intersection of Hallee Road and the highway in Joshua Tree at 3:45.

Two deputies and a California Highway Patrol officer ordered the driver, identified as Henry Owens Jr., out of the cab at gunpoint, and arrested him for investigation of possession of stolen property. Henry Owens Jr. was booked at the Morongo Basin Jail with his bail set at $50,000.

  • Very strange. The truck is still parked where it was stopped. The doors are unlocked. Seems like it would have been towed? Doesn’t look all that “stolen” to me…there’s more to this story!
