JOSHUA TREE NATIONAL PARK OFFERS PARK CAMPFIRE SAFETY TIPS

The hot weather means fire danger in our Morongo Basin and Joshua Tree National Park Firefighters are on the alert. Park Ranger Pam Tripp offers these campfire safety tips…
For almost 100 years the National Park has been a steward of public land and the Wildland Fire Branch has been part of the mission of protecting these lands. The wildland fire program is committed to working with our neighbors and park partners to protect park and local resources. Fire fighters at the park conduct prevention, containment, and suppression of wildland fires to protect the park resources and the visitors to Joshua Tree National Park. They also conduct and participate in regular trainings in order to stay prepared for fire situations, as well as helping to fight fires in other areas as needed. Remember to practice safety when it comes to fire. If you build a campfire, be sure to keep safety in mind before, during and after you build it and when putting it out. As Smokey Bear says, only you can prevent wildfires. Thank you to our wildland firefighters for the work they put in everyday to protect our national parks and local areas.
