JOSHUA TREE MAN HELD FOR FELONY DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

A Joshua Tree man was arrested Friday afternoon, accused of beating a woman. According to a Sheriff’s report, a witness called 911 about 2 p.m. Friday to report that a man, later identified as John Crossen, 35, had a screaming woman in a headlock in the 63100 block of Shifting Sands Drive in Joshua Tree. The witness told police he tried to make Crossen let the woman go by hitting him with a rock. He then said Crossen got into the woman’s SUV, which was pulling a trailer, and left. The woman suffered injuries on her forehead, neck, and chest. Deputies located Crossen and the SUV—but not the trailer—near Linn Road and Dusty Mile Road in Landers. The report states Crossen was not cooperative with deputies when they were trying to put him in the back of the patrol car, and they had to take him to the ground in order to hobble and handcuff him. John Crossen was arrested for investigation of felony spouse abuse and resisting arrest. He was booked at the Morongo Basin Jail with his bail set at $50,000.
