HOUSE AND SHED IN YUCCA VALLEY DESTROYED BY FIRE

A house and shed were completely destroyed by a fire in Yucca Valley fire Saturday afternoon. When fire fighters from Yucca Mesa, Yucca Valley, and Cal Fire arrived at Aberdeen Drive at Melody Lane shortly before 1 p.m., heavy black smoke and flames were visible from the mobile home and numerous outbuildings. Engineer Jeff Allen said fire fighters were hampered by high winds, which caused the fire to spread to nearby vegetation and threaten a neighboring home. Fire fighters initiated an aggressive attack with multiple hose lines, and had the fire under control in about 30 minutes. Allen reminds residents to maintain a defensible space by clearing vegetation and debris at least 100 feet from structures. The cause of the fire is under investigation. There were no injuries.
