The Morongo Basin Historical Society will host an all-day field trip to historic town of Goffs. On March 14, participants will experience the town of Goffs which was founded in 1893 and has a rich mining, ranching, railroading, homesteading and cultural history. The visit begins at the town that was once a famous stop on Old Route 66. Hugh and Carol Brown of the Mojave Desert Heritage and Cultural Association (MDHCA) will give a brief introduction, before participants take a self-guided tour of the 1914 Goffs Schoolhouse Museum and then go over to view the 6,000-volume Mojave Desert Archives, which is stored in a replica of the Goff’s Depot.
