HIGHWAY PROJECT CONTINUES IN YUCCA VALLEY

The Yucca Valley highway project continues on Highway 62, between Apache Trail and Palm Avenue, and includes the construction of curb, gutter, sidewalks, raised median islands, and a traffic signal at Church Street. The sidewalk, curb and gutter, and handicap ramps on the north and south side of State Route 62 have been completed. Median cuts and construction started Monday and is scheduled to take about 5 weeks to complete. Raised median island work begins at Acoma Trail and proceeds east to Palm Avenue. Temporary re-striping of State Route 62 was installed to allow for two travel lanes to be open in each direction. After completing the raised median island, all travel lanes on SR 62 between Apache Trail and Palm Avenue will be ground approximately 2” deep and then overlayed with new asphalt concrete. This final project segment is estimated to require two to three weeks to complete. The new traffic signal at Church Street is expected to be installed within the next couple weeks and to be operational by November 1.
