FORMER YUCCA VALLEY RESIDENT KILLED IN LAUGHLIN; LOCAL FUNDRAISER PLANNED

A Yucca Valley man, who had moved to Laughlin, Nevada, just three weeks ago, was killed in a fight with a neighbor June 21. According to the Laughlin Times, Frederick Meyer, 27, was arguing with his neighbor when he was hit with a beer bottle and then stabbed with the broken bottle. When police arrived, they followed a bloody trail and found Meyer. Meyer was taken to a hospital in Bullhead City, Arizona, where he died.

No arrests have been made, according to a release provided by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. Police said alcohol may have been involved, as well as a question of self-defense. Family and friends are holding a fund-raising car wash on Saturday, July 5, starting at 10 a.m. in the Hi-Desert Star’s parking lot. Donation cans have also been set out at various stores and gas stations in Yucca Valley. A funeral service for Fred Meyer will be held at 2 p.m. July 12, at Joshua Springs Calvary Chapel.
