8/4 - 8/15 Performing Arts Workshop. Children from ages seven to eleven are invited to take part in putting on the show “Go Fish: An Underwater Musical.”  Rehearsals start August 4th and culminate in a performance on Friday, August 15th at 10 AM at Desert Hills Presbyterian Church, 56750 Mountain View Trail, Yucca Valley. 8/17-9/17 Barbara Matheney. Artist Reception at Tumbleweed Photos Art Gallery. Sunday, August 17, 3-5 p.m. Barbara Matheney draws viewers into her art. Her intuitive and impressionistic renderings, create a dialog encouraging thoughtful participation. Barbara's background is in graphic and fine art. Her skill has contributed to the success of advertising, magazine and sales ventures. Barbara's art hangs in collections throughout Orange County, California and can be seen on billboards and advertising campaigns of local and national companies. Barbara's resume of art shows is impressive: 29 Palms Museum, High Desert Water District, High Desert Nature Museum, Desert Art Center in Palm Springs, High Desert Medical Center. Barbara supports the arts by affiliations with: Morongo Basin Cultural Arts Council, 29 Palms Artist Guild, Chaparral Artists, Articulture Club, and the Desert Art Center in Palm Springs. Barbara's art will be on display through September 17. Hours are 9-5 pm Monday-Friday and 10-2 pm Saturday. 8/23 Spirit and Truth Worship Center, 4751 Adobe Road, 29 Palms. The Spirit and Truth Worship Center will be holding its annual community give away from 8am until 12pm. All items will be free to the public on a first come first serve. There will be school supplies, furniture, clothes and household items.
