ART EXHIBITS IN MORONGO VALLEY, JOSHUA TREE, AND TWENTYNINE PALMS

A new exhibit by a former Joshua Tree National Park artist-in-residence is now on display at the park’s visitor center in Joshua Tree. Olivia Parkes was artist-in-residence at Joshua Tree National Park in March-April 2014. This spring, she returned to Joshua Tree for a residency at BoxoHouse, where she expanded on some of the themes and imagery she had developed last year. Her exhibition is on display at the park’s visitor center on Park Boulevard in Joshua Tree every day from 8 to 5.

The Art Colony of Morongo Valley’s artist of the month for April is Sharon George of Yucca Valley. George’s art includes drawings, oil painting, watercolors, and scratch art, with a concentration on flowers and critters. George’s art is on display at the art colony’s gift shop in Covington Park in Morongo Valley. The gift shop is open Wednesdays and Saturdays from 10 until 4.

A new art exhibit at the 29 Palms Inn features the paintings of Nancy Miehle and Chuck Caplinger. In this new show both artists have presented a series of oil paintings that colorfully portray the wildlife and landscapes of the California deserts. This show will remain on display at the 29 Palms Inn restaurant until May 31. A bio of each artist can be found on a link in this story at z1077fm.com
