26 LOCAL CANDIDATES AT POLITICAL POP-UP IN JOSHUA TREE SATURDAY

While attendance from the general public was light, the local candidates present thought the political pop-up Saturday was a good idea. Managing Editor Tami Roleff was there and files this reportā€¦
Twenty-six candidates for local offices showed up at the non-partisan political pop-up event held Saturday at the Sportsmanā€™s Club in Joshua Tree, sponsored by Z107.7 and the Sportsmanā€™s Club. It was an opportunity for members of the public to talk to the candidates one-on-one for the Yucca Valley Town Council, Twentynine Palms City Council, Hi-Desert Water District, Joshua Basin Water District, school board, and hospital board. While few residents took advantage of this opportunity to become more informed about local issues and the candidatesā€™ views, the candidates themselves were very pleased with the event, saying it gave them the chance to meet with and talk to other candidates with whom they may be dealing in an official capacity in the future. Everyone hoped that the pop-up event would become a regular part of the campaign process in the future.
